Omaha Softball Makes History With Win Over Washington

The Omaha Mavericks defeated Pac-12 opponent Washington 3-2 in game two of the NCAA Columbia Regional. For the first time ever, the Mavericks have won two regional games and are moving on to the regional final. 

The Mavericks improved to a 43-13 overall season record and are now 7-4 against Power 5 opponents and 3-2 in the NCAA tournament.

Omaha is set to play in the Regional Final Sunday at 1 p.m.

How It Happened
    - The Huskies hit a two-RBI double down the left-field line to take an early first-inning lead.
    - At the end of the third, Washington was up 2-0 and leading 3-2 in hits. 
    - Omaha rallied in the bottom of the fourth to get on the board. 
    - Sydney Ross fired one behind the head of the left fielder for a two-RBI double. With Sydney Thomason and Alex Olson on base the game was tied at two. 
    - Ava Rongisch stepped up to the plate in the next at-bat with Ross on second. Rongisch dropped one in shallow right center to score Ross and take the lead. 
    - The Mavericks locked down defensively for the remaining three innings to defeat the Huskies 3-2. 
    
Game Notes
    - Ross went 1-3, scoring one run and recording two RBIs.
    - Kamryn Meyer won her 27th game of the year, making her season record 27-4
    - Meyer pitched the complete seven innings where she struck out five batters while only allowing two runs and just four hits. 
    - Lynsey Tucker recorded a team-high four assists.
